Holiday times –celebrated with a great party for a great cause! That’s just what we love to do in Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC. And there's not a better party than one where everyone has the opportunity to give back to the community - to meet a real need!

Folks here have a very giving heart. This Christmas season, we enjoyed Rhonda McDaniel (winner of 2008 Carolina Beach Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year and 2008 Album of the Year awards) singing at the 1st Annual Toys for Tots Benefit.

John DiPiazza and Monticello Custom Builders sponsored the event along with Bruce and Mary Smith of Savannah Lakes Homes who helped out! Folks from our community joined in the enthusiasm of the season by contributing a huge room full of toys! Children throughout this area of South Carolina will wake up Christmas morning and have gifts under the tree thanks to the generosity of our community. And everyone had fun being together, enjoying Rhonda's music, and, of course, meeting a need at Christmas time!

Anyone out there like good old Carolina beach music? What about dancing the shag? Have you tried it? Maybe you've spent some time at Myrtle Beach or another beach community on the Carolina coast and you're familiar with this ageless style of music and dance! The Carolina Beach Music Association awards its highest awards each year - the CAMMY's! Last weekend, the awards were presented in Myrtle Beach. McCormick is proud to congratulate Rhonda McDaniel, a McCormick native and resident, the Carolina's 2008 Female Vocalist of the Year and a great friend! Check out her awards below!

Good folk getting together for a worthwhile cause and Rhonda singing! She makes our party a hit! All of McCormick is very proud of Rhonda!!!

Watermelon, Tomatoes, and Emmy Lou

Her name is Emmy Lou! She's a 12 year old black lab who has lives in McCormick, SC! We're lucky that she chose to live with us. One thing we discovered a long time ago is that people love dogs - especially nice calm ones who don't bark or jump up on them. Emmy learned early in her real estate career how to just sit and be pretty. And she's as faithful of a partner as anyone could want! How does this work for us with our business here in McCormick? Well . . .

Year after year, Emmy sells and sells and sells. Since dogs don't have to be licensed or take classes to be re certified, she's very cost effective.

Pro: We don't have to provide a computer for her. Con: She can't answer the telephone.

Emmy is featured on our web site; matter of fact, folks contact us and tell us they picked us because they figured that anyone who likes animals must be okay! No sitting fees or other charges for her - just a pat on the head and a hug suffices!

In this days of changing markets, home foreclosure, and technology challenges, Emmy just sits on her pillow and enjoys life. There's something to be said for that!

She's great at keeping the deer and squirrels away while we are showing waterfront, golf, and interior lots and acreage here on on the lake on South Carolina's 'Freshwater Coast' in McCormick. We're all reassured by her presence - no charge!

Networking is her speciality. She's great at working a large group.
And she loves watermelon and tomatoes! What else would you expect from a South Carolina dog?

Dogs selling real estate? Seriously, most animals need care and love and many don't get it. The Humane Society of McCormick is a local organization that provides that very needed service in McCormick County. Volunteers care for animals that would otherwise have no care - for dogs that are not as lucky as Emmy Lou. Currently, the McCormick County Humane Society is participating in the Shelter Challenge. Holiday on Main-December 13, 2008

Celebrating the Holiday on Main (HOM) street here in McCormick, SC is a fun filled day of activities. Venues leading up to HOM include but are not limited to window dressing kicked off by the Chamber with a 12 Days of Christmas theme. The merchants on Main Street compete for the title of Most Festive Window and there is the punch competition brought to you by the MACK. There is talk of a silent auction that is building steam as we speak. As the holidays grow near check back for updates.

The day of HOM starts with a parade to bring in the guest of honor Mr. Santa Clause. Mr. Clause is gracious enough to spend time with children large and small. Say cheese for the camera for just enough to cover the cost of the film. Then mingle around town while the merchants are all a glow and there are special guest vendors for arts, crafts and food. It is a day full of merriment and charm.

A rainy fall day in McCormick, SC is a great day - time to sit inside, take a rest from golf and boating, and catch up on a little reading and of course, work. McCormick is a small county located about 45 minutes northwest of Augusta, GA on what is called 'South Carolina's Freshwater Coast'. The area borders Lake Thurmond, one of the largest man-made lakes east of the Mississipi (70,000+ acres). But today's not a good day for the lake or golf, for that matter. We do have two premiere golf courses - Monticello and Tara - and a great state-run course at Hickory Knob State Park nearby but I don't get any thrill about golfing in the rain! So it's a good day to catch up on some friends and clients and work a little. Later.
